Controlling Voles

    Controlling Voles

    By | Lawn | Comments are Closed | | 0

Use Vole Repellent granules in the late fall (November) to prevent voles from damaging your lawn over winter. Damage looks like tunnels in your lawn that appear in the spring after the snow melts. This super strong product works by making the food source and environment of burrowing animals smell and taste unpleasant. It is safe to use around pets and kids and very effective to control voles.

    What damage do voles cause?

Voles create small trails that are approximately 2″ wide. They often create these trails under snow cover over winter but damage can occur any time of the year. You may first notice the destruction in early spring as the snow melts. Voles can also destroy perennials or flowers and also chew bark off trees and shrubs.

    How can they be controlled?

We recommend using I Must Garden Vole & Mole Repellent. This repellent can be spread over a large area and works by making the food source and environment of burrowing animals smell and taste unpleasant. It is safe to use around pets, kids and birds.

There are products that actually kill voles, but these products have to be placed in each hole you see and will only control the voles in the treated hole. The products that kill them can also be harmful to pets, birds and humans. That is why we recommend non-toxic I Must Garden Vole Repellent.

    When should repellent be applied?

It is recommended to apply repellent in November. If there is a time in January or early February when there isn’t too much snow on the ground, make a second application. If you notice damage in spring or summer months, repellent can be re-applied.
